Zone CTRL is a trainer controller, not a tracker. It does not collect your location, it does not record your rides, and it does not sell or share personal data with anyone.

The app never requests, collects, or stores GPS or location information of any kind.

No ride recording

Zone CTRL does not log power, heart rate, cadence, or workout history. Your watch or bike computer handles that.

1. Who we are

Zone CTRL ("the app") is an Android application that controls bluetooth-enabled indoor smart trainers. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. It applies to the Zone CTRL app distributed on the Google Play Store.

2. Information the app stores

Zone CTRL stores a small amount of information locally on your device so it can work and so you don't have to re-enter values every session:

  • Profile settings — your body weight (kg) and FTP (watts). These are used only to calculate W/kg targets and power zones on your device.
  • Workout inputs — the target values, durations, step counts, repeats and variance figures you enter on the Free Ride, Manual Intervals, Auto Intervals, Ramp, Pyramid and Under/Overs screens, so your last-used configuration is remembered.
  • Imported workout files — ERG and MRC files you choose to load are read from your device's storage to run the workout. The app reads only the file you select.
  • App preferences — such as your selected control mode and last-connected trainer, to speed up reconnection.

This information is held on your device only. It is not transmitted to us and it is not associated with any account or identity.

3. Information the app does not collect

Zone CTRL does not collect location or GPS data, does not record or store ride data (power, cadence, speed, heart rate, distance or workout history), does not require an account, and does not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. There are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the app.

4. Bluetooth permissions

The app requests bluetooth permissions solely to discover and connect to your FTMS-compatible smart trainer and send it resistance and power commands. On some Android versions, the operating system groups bluetooth scanning with location permission — where that is the case, the permission is required by Android itself, and Zone CTRL neither requests nor accesses your actual location.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Subscriptions and one-off purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details. Google provides the app with a purchase status so it can unlock features; that transaction is governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms.

6. Crash and diagnostic data

If you have opted in to Google Play's automatic crash reporting at the device level, Google may share anonymised crash and performance reports with us to help fix bugs. These reports contain no personal information and are handled under Google's policies. You can disable this in your device settings.

7. Children

Zone CTRL is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.

8. Deleting your data

Because everything is stored locally, clearing the app's storage in your Android settings — or uninstalling Zone CTRL — permanently removes all settings and workout inputs from your device. There is nothing held on our side to delete.

9. Changes to this policy

If the app's functionality changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and revise the date above. Significant changes will also be announced in the Discord community.
